Manchester City teams up with Quidd for a multi-year partnership to launch digital collectibles

The digital collectibles, featuring exclusive experiences like pitch-side seats for team training events, will be brought to fans through a new partnership between Manchester City Football Club and Quidd, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. This multi-year collaboration will introduce special edition digital collectibles, including cards unlocking real-world opportunities.

Tom Boyle, Vice-President of Global Partnerships Marketing and Operations at City Football Group, expressed excitement about this venture, stating, “We’re thrilled to revolutionize the traditional football card and collectibles scene in the digital realm with Quidd, enhancing our connection with fans worldwide. Together, we’ll craft innovative digital experiences and games for our fan base to enjoy.”

The first release under this partnership will be a series of 200 unique digital player cards, available for purchase starting May 2. The initial 10,000 Cityzens, as Man City fans are affectionately called, buying packs will receive two exclusive “For the Fans” packs.

Cityzens who unlock rewards via Quidd packs will gain access to real-life events and purchasing opportunities, including official Manchester City merchandise, hospitality tickets, and coveted experiences like watching a first-team training session at the City Football Academy.

Recently, Manchester City has been active in the NFT space, launching the “Unseen City Shirts” NFT collection on the OKX blockchain. These NFTs are linked to limited-edition jerseys featuring hand-painted artwork. Additionally, the club partnered with Sony in 2022 to create a virtual version of Etihad Stadium, the team’s home ground, marking the first officially licensed football stadium in the metaverse.
