Telos and Ponos Technology Partner to Develop Hardware-Accelerated zkEVM for Ethereum L2

Telos Executive Director John Lilic announced during his keynote at TOKEN2049 in Dubai, where Telos was the title sponsor, a new partnership with Ponos Technology. This collaboration aims to deliver unprecedented scalability, enhanced data protection, and trustless interoperability to Ethereum users worldwide.

Ponos Technology contributes its specialized knowledge in ZK proving systems, utilizing FPGA acceleration to optimize cost and performance in business computations.

The Ponos Technology team is comprised of seasoned scientists and industry professionals with extensive expertise in zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs).

Slobodan Lukovic, CEO and co-founder of Ponos Technology, highlighted the critical role of Zero Knowledge technology, predicting that continuous improvements in algorithms and hardware advancements will lead to the commoditization and broad adoption of ZKPs soon.

The development of the Telos L2 is a joint effort involving multiple partners, including Digital M.O.B., ATKA, and Cometh, with Telos playing a coordinating role.

Digital M.O.B. boasts a reputation as one of the leading Ethereum developer teams globally, with experience in major projects like MetaMask, MakerDAO, and Gnosis. ATKA, based in Paris, is a comprehensive Web3 incubator noted for nurturing top-tier projects such as Morpho and Mangrove.

In March 2024, Cometh, under the leadership of ETH France President Jerome de Tychey, became a technical EVM advisor to Telos.

John Lilic, a former leader at ConsenSys and Polygon and recognized among the Top 50 Web3 angel investors, will oversee and facilitate this transformative initiative. He will collaborate closely with Alberto Garoffolo, Head of ZK technology at Telos and co-author of the SNARKtor whitepaper, and Jesse Schulman, CTO and Head of Engineering at Telos.

Lilic stressed the critical need for a combined hardware-software design approach to achieve optimal zkEVM performance on a large scale. He is confident that the strategies employed by Telos and Ponos Technology, particularly in advancing recursive proofs through SNARKtor, will significantly benefit the Ethereum ecosystem and the broader community.
